Observation Medication 6/17/11

Today's observation medication I'm taking directly from my journal with no editing (although I must admit it is VERY hard to rewrite this without doing so.)  I wrote this after spending many hours just wandering and enjoying the beauty of Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest with Jason.

There are no words I can write to describe what a magical place it is.  I felt like a child trying to savor everything and I ended up taking over 200 photos while in the woods so I wouldn't be able to forget it.

6/11/11 entry:

Joyce Kilmer is beautiful.

The trees are large, but not as large as the sequoahs, but mighty and wise in their own right.

The forest has magic.

The Floor is lined with wild flowers and ferns.

It is an old wood.

A loved wood.

There are these two trees that stand near the center, side by side.

I imagine them as the grandmother and grandfather trees.

They gave birth to all that we saw and became today.

These wise trees know the humans come and marvel at them and wonder what they think of them.

They have no words for the humans.

In their silence, they teach them to STOP.

Be fierce.

Stand firm.

Be able to sway with the breezes that blow.

Be flexible and always growing.

To always reach for more.

To reach for more joy.

The trees are wise.

They understand the cycle of living and dying and never living on your own, but in communion with all that is around you.

They understand dying and leaving this world to become something new.

They know how to bring up what once was inside of themselves.

They remember all they have ever known.

They understand standing still.

They welcome the life that grows all around them and they teach that precious life to stand up and reach for the sun!

They teach those sweet plants their role in the cycle of life so they can grow to be whole and appreciate the opportunity they have been given.

The trees have no secrets because they are pure.

They act from their heart and when they are hurt they don't look for something else outside of themselves to do the work of healing, they do it themselves.  If they aren't able, they fall over because they know this is how life works.  We fall over until we get it right.

The trees understand that branches have to sometimes be shed when they are no longer serving their purpose to help them to continue to reach for the sun.

They fall away to become something old becoming something new.

These wise trees have strong limbs that are always reaching for more.

These trees understand the importance of reproduction and life being given and repeating and teaching what is important.

Trees know life is a gift that can be taken at any moment, so we must always be ready and creating so that we can leave an image of our love here for us to remember and to help others to stay awake!

The trees understand stillness.

Of quiet.

Of listening.

They understand when we breathe and when we reach we open our hearts to become.

Grandmother and Grandfather tree taught me much today.

May this be a reminder for all the beauty and joy I experienced and may my light shine brighter and my spirit sing the lessons the trees have taught me.

Aho.

day 6

Last day on the beach, but it is good to be home in our beds...Thank you, Ashley and Kris for inviting us to come along on your vacation. It was just what the doctor ordered for all of us!

India enjoying herself

Kissing
The family photo... gotta love the faces on India and I - certainly not the best photo we have ever taken

We saw this guy at the house. NOT a sea turtle. He was handsome and quick. We did see a couple of sea turtles though

day 5

This is my new favorite beach. It is beautiful and quiet 2 things I most look for in a beach!

And we found another skate park just up the street. Not as cool as Kona, but at least another opportunity for an out of town skate park appeared in the boys vacation.

day 4

Finally a picture of me I don't hate

we celebrated our 14 year wedding anniversary by going out to dinner and a VERY LONG walk on the beach.

We went to the oldest skate park in the nation, but boy was it hot.

coming home

Costa Rica is paradise... On Monday we woke again at 5:30 am (7:30 GA time) so we would be ready when our shuttle arrived to make the long journey back to GA. This vacation was just the right length of time. By the time we got back to GA at 10:00 pm I was so ready to breathe GA air and so sad to leave such an amazing place behind. I would have loved to have stayed longer if Jason, India, and Kalib had have been with me... you might have had to make me come home... Jason was kind enough to pick me up at the airport and I think he missed me as much as I missed him because he brought me a rose and big kiss... If any of you have ever doubted how much I love my man, doubt no more... he is a GOOD man and I love him more than I could ever write on my blog... not that anyone really needs reminding of how much I love him!

Anyhow, I promised days ago pictures of our room:

On the way back to San Jose we were all somber and talking about what gift it was that we got to see and do so much and how everything we experienced was beautiful and magical and then Randall, our driver, pulled over to the edge of the road for us to take a look because we were making really good time... and this is what we were graced with an hour before getting into the real choas of our travel home...

a mama sloth and her baby on low branches of a tree... such a gift from the heavens for us... a lasting reminder to take it slow and to truly appreciate life... PURA VIDA! I have ALWAYS loved sloths - everything about them and having the opportunity to be so close... it was like I was 10 again. I really felt alive and so thankful for that moment... I am eternally grateful for the presence I learned while in Costa Rica and seeing this sloth felt like a gentle reminder to take everything back with me and stay present that life is full of beauty when we allow it to be and when we take one day at a time...

The most beautiful place in the world mine eyes have yet to behold... Costa Rica... the rich coast... to say the least...

So, I'm home now, and glad to be... it was a big adjustment back into the world of Television, computers, phones, schedules, and work, but I am grateful for my life and to know more about myself and grateful for all of our family and friends and to know that somewhere like that exists and I can always return and I am the only thing standing in my way of living my life like there is no tomorrow because really all we have is today...

Thank you Holly, Ashley, and Aglisha for helping me return to me and for reminding me that crazy fun girl we all love still resides inside me and she has been begging to come out and she is BACK and ready to LIVE!

PURA VIDA!!!!! my friends! PURA VIDA!!!!
